Also called augmentation mammoplasty, during this surgery the size of the breasts is increased, in proportion to the rest of the body. It is carried out when there is a lack of one or two breasts, to treat the lack of symmetry, to replace implants or even deformity in the breasts from birth.
It is done with implants that are placed below the muscle giving volume and rising to the desired position. The implants are made with high quality materials and are not positioned in the mammary gland. A safe material is used that does not cause rejection in most people. The implant requires an incision in the breast crease or around the areola; in some cases, in both. The sutures are fine and the scars are thin and inconspicuous. The surgery lasts 2 to 3 hours.
It is an outpatient surgery, the patient can return home the same day. Recovery is 7 to 10 days. If the patient is a foreigner, she must stay for 8 to 10 days after surgery.
There is no problem with breastfeeding. The submuscular breast implant is not in contact with the mammary gland.
